Sustainable Production

At Famme, we want to lead the way in sustainability and environmentally friendly production within women's fashion and sportswear. We do this by ensuring that our suppliers are exemplary in sustainable production, so that our materials and products are produced in an environmentally responsible manner. We believe that good raw materials and suppliers are the key to a sustainable company with eco-friendly garments.

Suppliers

Yarn Production

The yarn in our clothing is produced by Fulgar, an Italian company that in 2009 became the first producer of Polyamide 6.6 to achieve the EU Ecolabel for environmental competence and performance based on the environmental impact throughout the product's lifecycle. Their sustainable initiatives include setting up an eco-friendly production system, an internally designed water management system that helps optimize water use for cooling air and equipment, and recycling over 63% of materials during the production cycle. We want to be transparent about who our suppliers are and how our products are made, which is why we have created this article to give you insight into how we have proceeded to become a sustainable brand.

Our denim comes from Isko, one of the world's leading denim manufacturers supplying denim across the globe. Isko works to set the standard when it comes to sustainable sourcing and production of denim and strives to maintain an open process to encourage others to follow the same standard. Isko aims to have all ingredients in their denim certified as eco-friendly and continuously works to achieve the most sustainable business model possible. Isko is also the first denim manufacturer in the world to receive the Nordic Environmental Label, the Swan Label.

Fabric Production (fleece)

The fabric we use in some of our garments comes from the supplier Pontetorto. One of Pontetorto’s central and fundamental philosophies is to protect nature and develop a strong environmental awareness through several eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives. These include initiatives such as: - Use of environmentally friendly products - Extensive use of recycled materials, including recycled plastic bottles. - Use of innovative technology powered by solar energy. - Integration of eco-friendly raw materials - Focus on reducing microplastic emissions during fleece production

What Can You Do?

Secondhand - Exchange or Give Away

Did you know that on average we throw away about eight kilos of clothing in residual waste every year?

Therefore, we have created a Secondhand group on Facebook for exchanging and buying products. By buying used, you do a favor for the environment. You can find the group here. If you still cannot sell the product, Fretex is a good option. Remember, it’s not just clothes you can donate!

Sustainable Wardrobe

By taking better care of your products, you can extend their lifespan. We have gathered 3 simple tips:

  • Wash denim products inside out
  • Wash garments at a lower temperature to reduce CO2 emissions
  • Tip 3

Recycle

  • Feel free to use the original packaging the product came in if you want to return an item.
  • Our products arrive in plastic or cardboard packaging. By sorting these for recycling, you help us better care for the environment.
